Discovering the soul of timeless ancient metal artwork
Happy 2019! My New Year started with an amazing trip to the ancient village of Hampi in Karnataka, India. This UNESCO World Heritage site is significant historically, architecturally, and topographically. Nature has arranged miles upon miles of boulders that look like they may topple at any moment!

While visiting Hampi, I also learned about a 14th century renowned metal artwork called Bidriware that derives its name from Bidar, Karnataka.

The metal used is a blackened alloy of zinc and copper inlaid with thin sheets of pure silver. Each Bidriware
piece undergoes an eight-stage making process.
This particular piece reminds me of Old and New ...... an ancient technique with a modern look!
Till next time.
Thanks!
Rinku.
