On July 29, 2021 NYT reported that workers in Sri Lanka dug up a cluster of sapphires worth up to $100 million, "a welcome distraction for a pandemic-weary public."
This brought back fond memories of my trip to that region of Sri Lanka and its incorporation in my jewelry journey.

Recently I had the opportunity to visit the Gem and Mineral Hall at the American Museum of Natural History, NYC. I often capture some of these gems in my jewelry and it was exciting to see them in raw form along with the geological explanation of their formation. At the very entrance of the hall the rockstar was this giant geode from Uruguay lined with rich purple Amethyst! These are only part of my jewelry album!
